Professor Mark Helbling's teaching and research interests include African American history and culture with special focus on the Harlem Renaissance, cultural theory, and twentieth century American literature. His most recent book The Harlem Renaissance: The One and the Many won the Baldrige Prize. Mark Helbling has authored numerous articles, short stories and poems and is currently working on a book on the African American press during the 1920s.
